Prawns patia with Patak’s UK!

A classic Parsi dish with an easy to follow recipe!

I have recently been working with Patak’s UK and developing recipes using their fantastic range of curry paste. The key for me has been to share family recipes whilst marrying together flavours within these jars. Which will give you a chance to try something thats homemade yet simple to rustle up when you plan your Indian meal.

The recipes are easy to follow and so very delicious! A simple yet delicious Prawns Patia is a classic dish from the west of India. Using the spice paste with flavours ground cumin, coriander, turmeric and chilli with the prawns makes a delicious meal for the family. Method

  1. Heat oil in a heavy bottom sauce pan over medium flame. Add the chopped onions and fry for 12 minutes until they change colour. Turn the heat to a low and add the garlic and chilli and fry for 1 minute

  2. Add the Patak’s Balti Paste and fry for a minute followed by the raw prawns. Fry for 2 minute mixing the spices with the prawns. Add sugar, tamarind paste and salt and stir well

  3. Add water and bring to a boil, simmer for 2 minutes with a lid. Turn the heat off, garnish with fresh coriander and curry leaves. Serve prawns patia with rice and some dal or chapattisparsi-prawns-patia_web
