Indian food at the Dene

Indian Ladies Lunch

A chance to sample a three course Indian lunch feast, learn how to put together some easy dishes with a live demo and have a go at cooking it too!

That’s what was in store for all the Ladies who came along to the Indian Lunch at Jesmond Dene House this month. I was excited at the prospect of not just doing the live demo and showcasing some of the cooking but also working alongside some of the regions best culinary talent. Pierre Rigothier is a name synonymous with fantastic cooking and bringing out the best flavours in food. After working with him, I also found how keen he was to learn about another style of cooking and whilst tasting the curries how easily he was able to pick up on the key notes of each dish thanks to his refined palate (and of course that he is a stickler for perfection!). His team were fun, energetic & enthusiastic to work with. All hands on, with a vibe that was truly infectious.

The menu was;


Spiced Lamb Chops


Haraa Masala Chicken Curry

Mattar Paneer


Gajjar Ka Halwa & Shrikhand

All served with Naan, Jeera Rice & Raita with a mint & pomegranate dressing.

I put together the menus a month in advance and was there working with the team in the kitchen a day prior to the event to make sure everything was ready and up to date.

On the day of the event, they all put in their very best to make sure it was a success. The food went down a storm with all those who attended and I’m not sure I could have pulled it off on my own. So a big thank you to Pierre and everyone in the kitchen who work amazingly hard and produce some brilliant dishes that this region has to offer.

If you’re ever in Newcastle I assure you, this is one place where you can be guaranteed of an exquisite meal sampling great ingredients, simply cooked to a very high standard.
