IKKIS X Maunika Gowardhan

Collaborating with Indian design brand IKKIS

This month I am excited to be working alongside Ikkis a female owned Indian design brand that is celebrating age old craftsmanship, aesthetics and bringing to life truly unique styles that are traditional yet contemporary. Each of their styles evoke memories or rituals iconic to India. ‘IKKIS’ translates from Hindi to mean ‘21’, a number eternally significant and symbolic in matters both physical and spiritual. It’s no coincidence that sequence, modularity and symmetry informs how the brand design for 21st century living.

Their terracotta coated thaali platters and bowls by Ikkis are made in pure copper – a material known for its health benefits in Ayurveda creating a unique dining experience and plays with our perception of fragility associated with clay. This collection caught my eye a few months back and I have been excited to showcase their work with curries from my cookbook Thali.

Make sure to check out their website for the collection and also to place your orders! x
